Cotran Brand KC86 waterproofing mastic tape Is a highly conformable, flexible, self-fusing butyl, waterproofing mastic tape. It provides excellent resistance to varying weather,ageing. And it also provides excellent adhesion to metals,cable insulations and jacket. Good moisture resistance makes this product used for sealant for low voltage cable termination and joints.
Applications
◆ Use for insulating, filling and moisture sealing in splices of all types of power cables and optical telecommunication cables. For primary insulation up to 1000 volts.
◆ Use for insulation and moisture sealing irregular shaped bus bar bolted connections
◆ Use for moisture sealing high or low voltage junction boxes and irregular splices.
◆ Moisture seal for power cable and wire connections
◆ Moisture seal for service drops

Installation
Cotran Brand KC86 waterproofing mastic tape should be applied in half–lapped layers until desired insulation build up is reached.
Step 1 Wipe off the dusts on the splice area before wrapping.
Step 2 Remove the liner and stretch the tape to 1 to 2 times of its original length, apply the tape in 50%-lapped toward area to the wrapped. Stretching the tape to 4 times of its original length is not recommended.
Step 3 Make sure there is 30mm to 50mm wrapping tape above both sides of the splice area.
Step 4 After KC86 waterproofing mastic tape is applied, overwrapping COTRAN PVC insulation tape is recommended, apply 3 layers of COTRAN PVC insulation tape in a 50% overlapping with no tension. Make sure not to overstretch the PVC tape during installation.
