Cotran Brand KC80 waterseal mastic tape is a conformable self-fusing rubber electrical insulating and sealing tape. KC80 consists of ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) and butyl mastic adhesive. It has strong adhesion to copper, aluminum, and cable jackets. It provides excellent waterproofing performance and temperature stability at 90℃,and withstanding of overload temperature up to 130℃.

Installation

Cotran Brand KC80 waterseal mastic tape should be applied in half–lapped layers until desired insulation build up is reached.

Step 1 Wipe off the dusts on the splice area before wrapping.


 

Step 2 Remove the liner and stretch the tape to 1 to 2 times of its original length, apply the tape in 50%-lapped with mastic side toward area to the wrapped. Stretching the tape to 4 times of its original length is not recommended.


 

Step 3 Make sure there is 30mm to 50mm wrapping tape above both sides of the splice area.


 

Step 4 After KC80 waterseal mastic tape is applied, overwrapping COTRAN PVC insulation tape is recommended, apply 3 layers of COTRAN PVC insulation tape in a 50% overlapping with no tension. Make sure not to overstretch the PVC tape during installation.

The inflatable duct sealing system (IDSS) is a wraparound, inflatable mastic-lined bladder used to seal empty or filled cable ducts. When inflated to proper air pressure, the IDSS seals the duct, guaranteeing a reliable water block.
